Before I dive into this post, I wanted to first just say how great people are!  We have had a tough week around here within the family and it has meant that some sessions were moved around or rescheduled.  I have had such understanding and loving clients!  Many of you have reached out with loving words and prayers.  It is so reassuring to see the good in this world!   I don’t want my business to ever become “just a business”!  I want it to be genuine relationships and I have been reassured this week that that is the case and I feel so blessed!  Now…let’s take a look at Gigi & Mickey!

I had TWO engagement sessions this past weekend, which really made my heart happy!  I love getting to see my brides and meet their grooms!  This engagement session was extra special because I had not even met Gigi yet!  We were so excited to finally meet in person, after talking through emails for months.  I knew I would love her just from our emails and because she has booked the sweetest wedding planner – Jamie with Jamie Lynn Signature Weddings.  Jamie & I have been friends for a couple years now so when she contacted me about one of her brides, I knew this would be a great match up!  Jamie knows me and knows my work, also she & Gigi have been friends FOREVER, so I was fully confident that she knew what she was doing by putting us together (this sounds like we were being set up on a blind date! Ha! Sorry Mick!).

Gigi and I started talking over email and she began telling me a little about her wedding.  I was SO in!  Her venue, her colors, the fact that it is going to be on a Friday evening (a free Saturday during wedding season?  I’ll take it!) all had me excited!  For their engagement session, we decided to meet in Richmond to get a different feel than what their wedding is going to be like.  We loved the idea of bricks, cobblestone, and the overall urban feel.

We started the night off at Libby Hill Park, over looking the city.  This park is gorgeous and it was SUCH a beautiful day, I was surprised we were one of only two sessions happening there that evening, but we were so grateful!  Before we even started taking pictures, we were all laughing and joking around so I knew they would fall in sync so easily…and they did.  From the first second of the first pose, everything was just so natural for them.  I felt like I was just a third wheel on their date, capturing how sweet they are together (and how funny they are!).  I LOVED it!  After the park, we went down to the canal walk for even more of a city-feel.  We had the place almost all to ourselves, with the exception of some cute little puppies that we HAD to stop and pet occasionally!

Let me leave you with a fun fact – Mick & Gigi met back in college attending JMU.  Get this…they were in an a cappella group together and that is where they started falling for each other.  For real!  Like straight out of  a movie (if only they had been in rival groups when they fell in love..that would have made my life!  If you don’t know what movie I am referencing, I am disappointed.)!

I really loved this session!  Gigi & Mickey are the real deal!  They are hilarious, sweet, and so easy going!  I am so, SO happy they chose me to capture their wedding day for them and I can not wait until it gets here!  It will be one for the books!!!
