Engagement sessions are so fun for me! Usually it is the only time I meet and talk with the groom before a wedding. I see the bride a few times and talk with her through email a lot, but the groom is usually not a part of all of that. I love hearing the groom’s side of things though! I want to hear him say how his bride caught his eye or how he planned out the proposal. The men always tell the story a little differently. Also, it’s just sweet to see them light up when talking about the girl they love!

Lauren had given me some details about how long she & Michael had been dating and how they got engaged, so I knew I wanted to ask Michael about it. Michael was happy to tell me all about their engagement because he did an amazing job surprising Lauren! They just got engaged a couple months ago and Michael was super sneaky about it. Lauren had NO CLUE! If you are familiar with JMU, you know about their spirit rock. Lauren is an alumni of JMU so Michael drove all the way up there (without her knowing), painted the rock (he did awesome), put up signs so no one would paint over it, got her up to JMU, and proposed. Michael & Lauren met us in Richmond for their engagement session. It was so much fun…and super hot!  These two did not care though.  We may have had a heat advisory that day but they were ready! We started the night at Libby Park, walking the gorgeous streets and checking out the cobblestone walkways. Then, we headed over to Belle Isle. This was special because the two of them have gone on many dates there! My husband and I had NEVER been there so we were all for it! We found a secluded, little trail leading to this opening on some rocks. Just a little bit up from us were LOTS of people so we were excited to find this spot. We hopped around to the rocks we wanted to use and started shooting. I was LOVING IT! It is so gorgeous out there!
