This year is already starting off with so many exciting weddings being booked, one of which is for these two!  Melissa had me hooked from her very first email to me, when she said, “We are getting married on a farm (my fiancé is a farmer)!”  I immediately was hoping I had her date open and we could meet up to talk details!!  Turns out, we clicked instantly!  We hung out for over an hour in a coffee shop, talking like old friends, going over all the details, and discussing possible vendor choices.  It was so fun!  She and Cody already had ideas for locations on the farm they wanted to use and, of course, incorporating their sweet dog!

During their engagement session, we walked all over the property and it is so gorgeous!  From the fields, to the old barns, gorgeous ponds, and precious cows, we had plenty of backdrops to choose from.  My favorite was the sunset. The sun set perfectly between the trees, giving us the most beautiful light covering the fields!!  I just loved how we were there, Cody lifting Melissa up for the cutest picture, while watching the sun go down at their family farm!!  How much sweeter can it get?  Melissa had told me that she and Cody went to Ring Dance together in high school and then started dating just before their senior prom.  These high school sweethearts have been together for 9 YEARS!!  All night, I could see how comfortable and natural they are together!  They could instantly make each other laugh, which made me one happy photographer!

You know what else made me really happy?  The cows!  I love cows.  I don’t know what it is about them.  I have a goal to milk a cow one day…which is weird and possibly gross but whatever!  The Watkins Farm’s cows may not be dairy cows, but they are still adorable.  More specifically..I love their babies!  Seeing little calves bouncing around a field has to be one of the cutest things ever.  When I arrived at the farm, Cody & Melissa told me a calf had JUST been born that day!  I was geeking out!  Of course, the little babies are in some of the pictures (and had some pictures taken by themselves of course).  Then, as if taking pictures of a farmer..on his farm…with all of his farm equipment isn’t enough…a calf was born DURING our session!!  Best day EVER!  We were cracking up just because it was so fitting (and insane!).

I can’t wait for Melissa & Cody’s fall wedding on the farm!  We will be counting down the days!  For now, look through their engagement session and you can see just why I love these two!
