I’ll be honest…I hated history class in school.  I did not care for it one bit!!  Now that I am an adult, I definitely find so much about our country’s history to be interesting!  Westover Plantation is one of those places that is bursting with American History.  Walking around this venue on Saturday made you feel like you were back in the eighteenth century…until you saw a car…or a person wearing normal clothes.  Basically, Ben & Carrie chose an incredible venue and we were excited to be there!  

The week leading up to this wedding day, the forecast was calling for showers on Saturday.  All signs pointed toward rain until that morning when the sun decided it wanted to stay out.  Blue skies and a nice breeze made it the perfect day for an outdoor wedding.  The ceremony and the reception were both on the grass in front of the enormous home, overlooking the river.

A little fact about Carrie and Ben…they have been together for over 11 years!!!  Read that sentence again. Yeah…WOW!  Their parents joked that they were crying during the ceremony out of pure joy that this marriage was finally happening!  I’ll tell you what though…there were few dry eyes when Carrie came walking down the aisle to her long time love.  Neither of them could stop smiling while they said their vows…under a tree that Woodrow Wilson planted himself (all the historical elements at this place). 

The entire day was filled with emotions like that.  Every person was so excited and happy for Carrie and Ben.  They have such a great group of friends & family that love them, support them, and kept saying amazing things about them both.  During the toasts, Ben’s brother was talking about how these two have known each other forever.  There is a photo in Ben’s parent’s home of Carrie and Ben as kids in rollerblades with their knee pads on (sounds like a photo they need framed in their house, too, because their kids will LOVE that one day!).  Ben literally married the girl next door!  What a fairytale!

I could go on and on about this wedding because we truly had an incredible time and loved everything about the day!  From the people, to the venue, to the beautiful details, and especially the bacon cheeseburger & french fries that we had for dinner – it was perfect! I’m going to just let the photos speak for themselves now…
