I have such a fun couple to share with y’all this week!  Matt & Laura’s engagement session was last week and we had a blast!  They truly made my job easy because they were smiling and laughing at each other the whole time.  It was just so natural with them!  You can tell laughter is a big part of their relationship. 

Matt and Laura have an added bonus to their relationship.  They have kids!  And they are beautiful!!  They both said that the other one embraced their kids as their own.  They didn’t just fall in love with each other, but with each other’s family!  As parents, we know that our kids are our entire world.  Matt and Laura love bringing their worlds together and forming this beautiful family together!  I’m just so happy for them!!

Matt and Laura didn’t meet and immediately start dating.  They were just friends for a couple years first.  They met at Laura’s work – Laura is a nurse and Matt was a police officer.  They built such a great friendship together and both of them agree that their friendship was foundational for their relationship.  Being so close as friends before dating definitely makes the relationship flow easier, or at least that’s how it worked for Anthony and I.  Once we decided to date, we were all in because we didn’t have to get to know each other….we already knew everything, basically!  Laura & Matt seem like they were the same way.  

I asked these two to tell me how they knew the other was their person.  Their answers definitely made me tear up!  Laura said that she knew from the beginning that Matt was ‘the one’!!  He was already her best friend!  She said that Matt is so selfless and never once hesitated to embrace her girls.  Matt also said how important that friendship was that they built but, once they started dating, she was ALWAYS his person.  She was never just his girlfriend.  He said that life just felt natural with Laura!  Then…Matt said: 

“It hasn’t always been easy, and it won’t always be, but it’s been about our family.  Nothing else matters but our family.”

I just love them both!!  Anthony & I are so excited for their November wedding!  It will hopefully be cooler, less humid, and have less bugs than this session but it was all worth it to get to photograph these two!
