Hello World!

It’s here! It’s here! It’s finally here!!!
I am so excited to announce the launch of my BLOG!

I have wanted to start a blog for a little while now, and I am so happy the day is here! I think this will be a fun way to share my work & to really showcase my amazing clients! I know I probably won’t be making blog posts about every single session (in the beginning at least), but this will be a fun place to highlight some different photos I take.

I am also excited for this blog to be a place where you can get to know me & my family better. I want this first post to be about just that – introducing myself! This way you can figure out who I am, what I am all about, and if I am possibly someone you would like to work with one day.

So grab a coffee, find a comfy chair, and keep reading!

My name is Caiti Garter and I live with my husband, Anthony, and 2 precious children in Prince George, Virginia. We are very chill, low key people. Most nights you will just find us at home, watching Netflix or cooking out with friends, playing corn hole (it is VERY SERIOUS).

Photography is not something I always imagined myself doing. It was a little passion that gradually grew & grew until I wanted to share it with others!  Photography has always been a big part of my life because of my mother. As long as I can remember, my mom has been very big into taking pictures, whether that was pictures of her 3 kids running around (and being complete goofballs) or wildlife while we were on vacation. From film to digital – she did it all! And it was all beautiful! My mom taught me to love & appreciate pictures – to want to capture passing moments and cherish those memories!  I started my photography business WITH HER! We were a mother/daughter team for years and LOVED it!! I was SUPER nervous when she stepped out of the business because she did SO much for me! She was my mentor, my teacher, my financial consultant, and knew way more about business than me. I guess it was finally time to be a legit adult, right? Ugh. Yes, I am married with children but running a business by myself is a whole new ball game. BUT that’s where my husband comes in – my second shooter, web designer, all things tech, business consultant, and sanity.

My husband and I have a beautiful love story – or at least I think so (I’m biased)! We met when we were in diapers, just babies in nursery at church. We even walked down the aisle in my sister’s wedding together when we were only 10 (that is a story in itself for another time). As we grew up, he became one of my closest friends. He was the guy I went to with my own boy troubles. I use to say I wanted to find a guy “like Anthony one day”, not thinking it would actually be Anthony. We were both stubborn & just in different places in our lives for awhile. At almost 21, we both started to realize our feelings for one another. He asked my parents if he could date me (old school, I know! He’s a charmer! Whoever tries to date our daughter has some HUGE shoes to fill!), and after that, it was basically a blur! We dated/were engaged for exactly 13 months before our wedding day! They say “when you know, you know”, and they are right (whoever they are!).

Flash forward 6.5 years and I am still crazy for him! We have two beautiful children – Hayley & Mason. They are our world! Kids change everything – for the better, of course! Some days they make me feel like I am losing my sanity (not gunna lie) but I am so so grateful & blessed by those sweet little humans being in my life.

Those are the basics about me right now but I am going to hit you with some fun, random facts too!! Ready….GO:
– I went to Liberty University for 4 years and majored in Special Education & Elementary
Education (So much for that degree! Sorry Dad!)
– I love ice cream….like it’s a problem.
– I am a HUGE Fixer Upper fan (who isn’t!?) and dream of meeting Jo & Chip one day.
– Tacos are everything. Duh.
– I love to sing, play guitar, & write music.
– I love decorating our home! It’s another one of my creative outlets! I love the classic, rustic
style and feel the need to put shiplap on our walls….like last week. haha
– I have a weakness for Sour Patch Kids. How does one go to the movies and NOT eat them?
– I own WAY too many workout tank tops.
– I say “UGH” a lot. Ask anyone. They know. I say it when something is good OR bad.
– One Tree Hill is the best show ever made. Don’t argue with me.

So I hope you keep coming back to check out my work, meet my clients, and connect with me. My main desire is for God to use me in this business and this blog however he would like! I also hope to I can capture beautiful moments in peoples’ lives so that they will always be able to remember them. Maybe this can just be a place you scroll through while enjoying your morning coffee – whatever works! Thanks for stopping by & come back soon!
